Brewdog that wonderfully insane Scottish brewery has finally revealed what they consider to be their most insane product ever, Which is a rather bold claim from the company that brought us the beer that is 59% beer which was so strong that it had to be served in a shot glass. They have christened this new product the WattDickie and it was a closely guarded secret until they were granted a patent on it. WattDickie is 35% APV and was created using an IPA style beer and will be given its first public outing in Brewdogs speakeasy underdog. Don’t worry though because it will also be available at all Brewdogs official pubs and should be available on their online store by years end, if your crazy enough to try it.
James Watt, co-creator of WattDickie, said: “WattDickie is beyond innovation. This is alchemy and apothecary. There was no hypothesis here, no ‘grand plan’, just an innate need to see what was possible. We went to the limits of brewing and took a match to them. WattDickie shakes maniacally at the foundations of what’s expected of us and of everything around us. This is science fiction. It’s the dawn of a new era. Welcome to a strange new world.”
This creation no doubt has come about thanks to the huge success of their previous high APV beers Tactical Nuclear Penguin, Sink the Bismarck! and the 55% ABV The End of History. The creation of this new blend though was not easy sailing as it required years of planning and the creation of a whole new distilling process. Despite this the creators do not consider this a beer, which is strange as it has its roots in an IPA.
Martin said: “What we have here is not beer but its alter-ego. This is Mr Hyde. This is the shiver down the spine of the grease-slick ad-man relying on people lapping up the ‘same-old, same-old’ from their sticky bottles of snake oil. This is a drink brewed by the misfits, for the misfits. It’s a beautiful, absurd experiment.”
All this makes me think though, if its not a beer then what is it?
This beer will be available in all Brewdogs 12 craft beer bars and will be 2.99 for 6cl bottles, Are you crazy enough to try it?
