Cornwall based brewer Penpont has opened its first shop today and called it The Beer Cellar, This new shop will off course stock the brewers many award winning ales on draught, In bottles and in new environmentally reusable containers, The brewery will also be using this shop as a showcase for other local, national and international beers. It should also be pointed out though that those not in Cornwall can go to the brewers online shop and order to their hearts content.
This is the latest move for the brewer, Which was established a little over four years ago by a very young entrepreneur. Penpont has only seen it popularity grow over the years and has saw a huge increase in exports to many countries, most notably Canada and Russia.
“We brew our beers in a converted milking parlour near Altarnun on the edge of Bodmin Moor,” said Joe. “We can’t sell direct to customers there so opening a shop was the logical step forward. We’ve been very successful in selling to distributors and pubs, but I’m very keen to build our relationship with the people drinking and enjoying not just our beers but some of the other high quality ales around.
“I’m also looking at the possibility of running beer and cheese tasting evenings and at teaming up with local restaurants to do food and drink matching events.”
The Beer Cellar is at 3 Chings Alley Launceston. Opening times are Monday to Wednesday 10am to 4pm, Thursday to Friday 10am to 6pm and Saturday 10am to 2pm. Beer sampling is available. For more information, visit http://www.beer-cellar.co.uk
