Fyne Ales Jarl has been named the beer of Scotland at the Scottish Real Ale festival. this rather weak 3.8% golden ale is described by the brewery as a “full-on citrus experience. Light and golden, a perfect ale for whiling away the hours at any time.” this marks the first time that a mainland Scottish brewery has won the competition in seven years.
Second place went to Cairngorm Black Gold, from Aviemore,
Third went to Highland Brewing Company’s St Magnus Ale, from Orkney.
Judging the final entrants this year were a panel of CAMRA members, brewers, publicans and beer writers. Judges noted the difficulty in choosing between the sheer quality of all the entrants on show this year.
Owner of Fyne Ales, Tuggy Delap, said: “We are very proud of a great team who have put in a fabulous effort.”
