If you’ve been reading this blog for some length of time you may be shocked to discover that my favourite beer style is not an ipa but rather i prefer my drinks on the darker side. Oatmeal stout is the style that got me into craft beer, I remember the first time i had it i fell in love with the full bodied feel and that malty flavour. This lead me down a very long road that sees me currently doing a review a day. Personally i think this is one of the harder styles to get right and I don’t think clay nano brewery got this one right. This 5.4% APV oatmeal stout from my local nano brewery came in a 500ml bottle. It started off looking good, it was Jet black with brown two finger head with no aroma to be seen. I liked their ipas that I’ve previously reviewed but when ever they need to include malt they loose any nuisance and just hit you with sweet malt and its very off putting to say the least. If you see a clay nano brewing beer on a shelf and its an ipa you’ll like it if your looking for a more malty Beer avoid them.
